3 stars is generous here. The food is alright and the chips are unlimited. Service is usually ok. The magaritas are the best thing about this place, and they are fantastic but that's not enough to warrant 4 stars in my humble opinion. The food is meh as far as Mexican food goes. If you drink enough though maybe the taste of the food won't matter ;)

We were visiting and stopped here to eat. The rice, beans and shrimp fajitas were amazing. Our waiter "Kiki" was super funny and very efficient.

We eat here often and will continue to. The bad: ??? On second thought, the flan. The good: the service is great-they KNOW what hospitality is. The food is good and consistent. The outdoor patio. If something does not satisfy you, talk with Carlos.

Stopped here on advice of two locals. Service was absolutely awesome. Above and beyond, my three teens loved our server. My middle daughter's birthday was yesterday, and upon discovering this while teasing her about paying, brought the hat, sang and did the picture thing. So very sweet. The food was excellent as well, pretty standard but very flavorful. Definitely worth it, especially in a town with not tons of choices. You won't leave hungry or unsatisfied. Great time and great food!

We stopped in here last Monday night for dinner. Absolutely fantastic in every way. The menu was extensive, the servers were attentive and friendly, the decor and ambiance were fitting, the portions were huge, the prices were reasonable, and the food was fantastic. I ordered the Carne al Pastor and Rebecca ordered the Chile Colorado and a margarita. She said her drink was perfect and both are dishes were excellent. This is perhaps the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I would definitely stop here again if I'm in the area.

After visiting Oregon Caves Nat'l Monument we were looking for a late lunch in the tiny town of Cave Junction. We asked a guy at a gas station and he said he had never been to Carlos but he had heard it was good. I was pleasantly surprised. Extensive menu, clean, good service, prompt service and excellent food and generous portions. After one visit I highly recommend it. I expect to return soon if possible. If I have the same experience I'll rate it 5 stars. I have eaten in Mexican restaurants all across the west and southwest and this is one of the very best.

The food here is ok. I eat a lot of Mexican food and there is really nothing here to rave about. They give you unlimited chips ands salsa. The margaritas are so so. They do offer a limited veg menu. The atmosphere is nice here though and it is clean. It would be awesome if they offered cheese dip.

A solid four stars! My carne asada dinner was excellent and included a chile relleno. Tortillas had to be ordered separately. One of my companions had a terrible fish dinner that came with french fries instead of beans, however my other companion enjoyed her veggie enchiladas mole. I recommend Carlos', but be sure to ask them to hold the fries!

As with every restaurant, some days are Great, some not. We've had burned meat in our tacos & fantastic enchiladas. Service for the most part is Great. Prompt seating, unless it's a busy night. Bowl of chips & salsa to assuage the appetite while you decide. Enjoyable. The big plus for this 1 horse town -- it's open 7 days a week. This town rolls up the sidewalk pretty early, so it's great that on Sunday & Monday evening there is a place to eat dinner.

WOW, a surprise. We headed over to Carlo's Restaurante based on the yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. We ordered a couple of kids meals, which were fair. However, the flautas and enchiladas were wonderful. To add to the meal, the beans and chips & salsa were AWESOME. I don't eat beans, and was talked into trying them (again) and I found that the refried beans here were smooth and silky and cheesy delicious. I actually ate them, and so did my kids. We went through at least 5 baskets of chips and 6 bowls of salsa. Yum! Also definitely order the plain ol' margarita. It was fresh and smooth and a lovely pairing with the food. I only wish I had time for one more margarita before we left Oregon.

I think this is the best Mexican food in the Rogue Valley. I have always had good food here. Very authentic. I love the spicy salsa.

A group of elderly people dressed to the nines took over the bar here last night. The gentlemen had white suits and cowboy boots and grins; the ladies had long sparkling dresses and sweet smiles. It was nice. I come here for drinks sometimes to catch up with friends when I'm in town, but don't eat here because the chips are cooked in lard. Ewwwwwww. A totally decent place for me, and a great watering hole and stand-by kitchen for a lot of people who live here. *Bonus is the gregarious host/waiter/etc with that sexy-shmoozy-charm.

So went to this town and was recommended this place. You know what? Not bad. A little pricey for what they offered, but I've had some wonderful Mexican Food and this place has nothing to be ashamed of.

We had the good luck to be taken out to Carlos' while on a recent trip to Cave Junction to visit family. We are from southern California and thought that no one in Oregon could fix as great of Mexican food as the eateries we go to. We were happily surprised by the excellent food served at Carlos'. The portions were fantastic too. Maybe the chips are cooked in lard, but they sure tasted great!

They serve chips and salsa with every order.the chips were warm and fresh. The salsa a little spicy but very yummy. They also have a separate vegetarian menu. I ordered the burrito vegetariano. It was huge and served with freshly cut onions tomatoes cilantro and avocado. Not pricey at all

I started this review right after I dug into the chips and salsa and started at four stars, then the blackberry Margarita arrived and that was that :) Stay inside, there are a lot of flies outside on the patio.

Being the Bay Area food snob that I am, I didn't expect much from a Mexican restaurant in Cave Junction, Oregon. But I was pleasantly surprised. This was my second time there. We were visiting my in-laws in Selma and celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday. They love this place. And I can see why, it's a fun casual atmosphere, the food is really good and their regular waiter "Kiki" treats them like royalty. As soon as we were seated in the covered and heated patio, Kiki greeted us with familiar greetings and 3 baskets of chips and salsa. The salsa was terrific; fresh, tasty, and spicy! There were 6 of us at dinner and we had a variety of entrees: enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, chili rellenos, and a house shrimp, mushroom, and rice dish, that my mother-in-law just raved about. The vegetarian burrito (the one with mushrooms and black beans) also got rave reviews (from a San Francisco mission district burrito connoisseur) - as did everything else on the table. I had a chicken taco and cheese enchilada- and it was full of great robust flavor. After dinner, I ordered the chimichanga cheese cake dessert and asked Kiki to bring it with a candle. To our surprise, he not only brought the dessert covered in whipped cream, but also a big purple sombrero and a camera. After we all sang "Happy Birthday" he asked my mother-in-law for permission to put a little dab of whipped cream on her nose, then he placed the sombrero on her head and snapped a picture, which they printed and attached to a nice little birthday greeting to take with her. Everyone loved it! Seeing her with whipped cream on her nose and a bright purple sombrero was priceless!!!! (Oh- and the cheesecake chimichanga was out of this world - absolutely sinful!) Definitely worth the stop if you're in southern Oregon and craving a nice relaxed atmosphere, great service, and really good Mexican food!

Probably among the best Mexican food restaurants you can eat at outside of Mexico. I use to live in Mexico so I have eaten real authentic and good Mexican food before.

To start off the customer service is amazingly awesome. The salsa and the chips are Hella good taste really fresh. The asada burrito was tasty and I loved the chilie rieono ( spelled extra wrong lol) it was huge and tasty.

We came looking for big portions and were not disappointed!! The chimichanga was a little too heavy on the cream and the fajita veggies were very oily, but the patio seating area was lovely, as were the staff. Over all, we are leaving very full and very pleased.

A full VEGAN menu! No meat. No cheese. No cream. No GMO. Good fresh healthy food on the way through the mountains to Portland. They don't just take the mean and cheese out either. Enchiladas with mole sauce and fresh crispy roasted organic veggies in the side. Delicious complete nutrition for vegetarians or vegans. Must stop if you are heading through town.

Great food. Glad we stopped in on our way to the Redwoods. The mole enchiladas were particularly good. We enjoyed the frozen margaritas as well.

Food was overcooked and the "ranchero sauce" was unappealing. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was very nice, and almost everyone had a cocktail. In summary, if you're looking for less than mediocre Mexican food in a fun, friendly atmosphere, then this is the place for you!

Who would've thought Cave Junction would have the best damn Mexican food in the world? They had a whole vegetarian/vegan section, and the zucchini sautee was amazing.

Excellent food, massive portions and great service. We went here as a group of 9 and ended up ordering a variety of things. The cheese enchilada and the crab enchilada were terrific, the rice and beans flavorful, the mole was delicious and the chicken wings were pretty good. The jalapeno poppers were the only thing I didn't like. We ended the meal with some fantastic flan. I'd definitely recommend going here if you happen to be in the town and craving some mexican food.

One of our favorite local dinner spots! ...only complaint is that they are always crowded, so we get our food to go most of the time. Our favorite is the carne asada burrito or the beef banderillas (shish kebobs with cheesy, mushroom rice). Great margaritas too!

Great basic Mexican food with some dishes perhaps on the high side. They do discount some dishes before 3pm. No complaints about service.

We ordered the following: Banderilla: Awesome (the chicken in this dish was perfectly grilled). Must try. Enchilada and Chili Relleno: Decent, nothing great. Chimichanga: Pretty good. The above 2 lunch items are super cheap ($7 or so) and large quantities. Service was decent. Refilled salsas and chips multiple times: decent ones.

Compare to grants pass, mex.food, the Carlos is way tastier than any of them! We enjoyed their foods very much. We will go to eat at Carlos bypassing grants pass men.restaurants! Four stars to five stars for the taste. Rooms can be modernized.

While working in the area our customers recommended we go to Carlos Mexican Restaurant for dinner. We were amazed how good their fajita burritos were!! The staff are very nice as well!

We were staying in the area and went to Carlos twice. We had excellent service both nights. So excellent in fact that we decided to go there on the second night just so we could talk to the staff again. We also had our fair share of daiquiris. The best are blackberry!! I couldn't get enough! The food did not disappoint either. Chicken tacos are fantastic as was the chimichanga - which has chicken and beef inside. Highly recommend Carlos to Mexican food lovers.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
